Instagram Launches 'Add Yours' Nominations, Notes, and Candid Stories, Among Other Things
- Instagram notes will be brief postings with a maximum character count of 60.
- For 24 hours, it will be displayed at the top of the recipient's inbox.
- Additionally, Meta is testing Facebook's honest tales tool.
Instagram has revealed a number of new features that will make it easier for users to communicate with their friends and followers on the photo and video sharing site. Notes, unfiltered tales, group profiles, collaborative collections, and other features have recently been added to the service, which is owned by Meta.
Users can send text and emoji updates to their friends through the notes feature, and the updates will be received as direct messages (DMs) in the user's inbox. The company released a blog post on Tuesday revealing the new features.
The first feature, notes, allows users to compose a succinct post of up to 60 characters that includes text and emoticons. Instagram claims that the notes feature will give users a casual and impromptu way to interact with their friends and followers. Users can access the new 'add your nomination' feature, which enables them to nominate others to participate in 'Add Yours' on articles, by tapping the 'pass it on' button.
Contrarily, Instagram's candid stories feature lets users record a live event and share it with their friends and followers by using the tales camera. It will only be visible to those who also share their own open tale. The BeReal app, which is gaining popularity all around the world, appears to have impacted a similar feature that Meta is considering for Facebook.
